CHARACTERISTICS : Caespitose. Green culms and foliage. It is possible that during growth the culms shorten and produce swollen-like distortions, this is where its name “Buddha’s belly” comes from.

Propagation : Clump division or culm cutting.
Needs : Adapts to all conditions except when temperatures are very low in winter. In good conditions this bamboo can reach 15 to 18 m.
Uses : Hedge, windscreen, isolated clump. Suitable for pots, jardinières and bonsai.
Maintenance : When the culms start to swell, don’t hesitate to prune the lower part of the culm. For pots, provide a healthy and well-drained soil and fertilize twice a year. Inside or in veranda, provide sufficient light and hygrometry.
