CHARACTERISTICS : Slightly variegated foliage, only a few leaves have white stripes. Striped culms that vary with age and exposure. In Autumn, when exposed to the sun, certain culms turn a deep red colour.

Propagation : Rhizome cutting or clump division.
Needs : Likes fresh soil. Overpowered by strong sun. Provide a shady place. Planted in the ground, the young culms that develop in the Autumn can suffer from frost (-10°C.).
Uses : Clump, riverbank, hedge. Suitable for pots or jardinières.
Maintenance : For pots, provide a healthy and well-drained soil and fertilize twice a year. If kept inside, need light.
